A corn snake is a species of rat snake commonly found in North America. Corn Snakes are cold blooded meaning they cannot control their own body temperature. Because of this you should always keep them in a heated vivarium. (all snakes are cold blooded) Like all snakes, they corn snake is deaf. It uses it's tong to taste the air. That is why it comes out a sit moves. Also, corn snakes can feel vibrations. The name originates from where they live in the wild, corn fields. They live here because there is a good supply of food. That food is small rodents (like mice and rats). There are many different kinds of corn snakes. Their original colour is orange with black lines and a red saddle.
They are non venomous meaning that it cannot kill you.
I highly recommend you buying a corn snake. They are a great first time reptile and very rarely bite.
